Monument to Ho Chi Minh Inaugurated in Algiers

A monument dedicated to the Vietnamese leader Ho Chi Minh was inaugurated today in Rais Hamidou, Algiers. The ceremony was attended by Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, accompanied by Algerian Minister of Trade and Export Promotion Kamel Rezig, as well as local authorities.

The inauguration took place during Prime Minister Chinh’s visit to Rais Hamidou, where he stopped at the street named after the historical figure of Vietnam. The event was met with a warm welcome from the local population.

On this occasion, highlighting Algeria’s appreciation for the Vietnamese leader’s struggle and underscoring President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s commitment to strengthening the historical ties between the two nations, the Vietnamese Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to Algeria for giving “Ho Chi Minh and the Vietnamese people a special place and great affection.

I extend my thanks to the Algerian state for the warm reception and my sincere appreciation to the brotherly Algerian people,” he added, pointing to the “deep-rooted historical relations and strong brotherhood” that unite Algeria and Vietnam.

In related news, the Vietnamese Prime Minister received the Minister of Veterans and Rights Holders, Abdelmalek Tachekrif, this evening. Discussions focused on the “authentic” historical bonds between the two countries, forged on the path of shared struggle against colonialism.

During the meeting, both sides affirmed Algeria and Vietnam’s determination to strengthen bilateral cooperation and elevate it to the level of a strategic partnership, reflecting the strength of historical relations and embodying the shared desire to expand the horizons of cooperation. This commitment aims to pass on the values of solidarity and liberation to future generations.

The importance of developing scientific and cultural exchanges, particularly in the fields of historical studies, valuing national memory, and preserving the heritage of the peoples’ liberation struggle, was also emphasized. This will be achieved through enhanced partnerships and cooperation between museum institutions and historical research centers in both countries.

Prime Minister Chinh concludes his visit to Algeria today, which began last Tuesday, with the aim of consolidating friendship and cooperation between the two countries and advancing the bilateral partnership in various areas of common interest.
