Algiers, October 22, 2025 – A coordination meeting was held this Wednesday evening to assess the progress of the national digitalization strategy. The meeting was jointly overseen by the Minister of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transport, Said Saayoud, and the High Commissioner for Digitalization, Meryem Ben Miloud.
The meeting focused on reviewing various digitalization projects related to the Ministry of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transport. Participants also examined the level of progress achieved in implementing the national digitalization strategy within the sector.
Minister Saayoud emphasized that the purpose of the meeting was to coordinate efforts with the High Commission for Digitalization, which is responsible for leading the national digital transformation policy. He also aimed to evaluate the progress of sectoral workshops and establish arrangements to accelerate their pace.
Saayoud urged officials in charge of the digitalization file to accelerate their work in a participatory and coordinated manner with the High Commission for Digitalization. He also stressed the importance of precisely defining priorities, particularly those related to statistical systems, data control, and ensuring cross-sectoral intersection. This includes completing systems related to the operation and monitoring of rail and maritime transport, and leveraging their efficiency in management and financial and economic effectiveness.
The High Commission for Digitalization acknowledged the strategic importance of the projects being developed within the Ministry of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transport, highlighting their production of significant data. Ben Miloud emphasized the importance of the national digital identity system, the automated system for generalizing the national identification number for legal entities, the national family register, and the national vehicle registration register.
Ben Miloud commended the digital progress achieved by the sector and its impact on citizens. She affirmed her department’s readiness to provide all necessary support to the Ministry of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transport to complete the various projects within the deadlines set by the President of the Republic. The High Commission reiterated its commitment to facilitating a seamless digital transformation across all sectors.
