Blida, Algeria – A major drug trafficking network has been dismantled in Blida by the Research and Intervention Brigade (BRI) of the Wilaya Judicial Police. The operation, conducted this week, resulted in the arrest of six individuals allegedly involved in the sale and distribution of psychotropic substances.
The arrests followed intelligence reports concerning suspicious activity in a Blida neighborhood. Police implemented a security plan that led to the apprehension of a suspect in his twenties while in possession of narcotics on a motorcycle. Authorities discovered a bag containing 3,000 psychotropic capsules, along with an additional 4,040 capsules concealed in the motorcycle’s storage compartment.
Under the supervision of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, search warrants were issued, enabling the authorities to broaden the investigation and apprehend the remaining members of the six-person network. The operation yielded a total seizure of 7,230 psychotropic capsules, a substantial sum of money amounting to 530 million centimes, a currency counting machine, a packaging press, and three prohibited bladed weapons.
The suspects have been referred to the Blida court on charges including possession, transport, sale, and storage of psychotropic substances within an organized criminal group. They also face charges of money laundering within an organized criminal group, and smuggling offenses that pose a serious threat to public health and the national economy.
The successful operation underscores the ongoing efforts of Algerian law enforcement to combat drug trafficking and organized crime.
