Algerian Embassy in The Hague Commemorates Revolution Anniversary

The Algerian Embassy in The Hague recently commemorated the 71st anniversary of the outbreak of the glorious War of Liberation. A ceremony was held, attended by ambassadors and diplomats from various countries around the globe, along with political figures, human rights advocates from international organizations, and members of the Algerian community residing in the Netherlands.

In her address, Algeria’s Ambassador to the Netherlands, Salima Abdelhak, emphasized that the first of November represents a pivotal historical moment and a symbol of sacrifice and dignity for the Algerian people. She stressed that commemorating this anniversary remains a national duty, vital for consolidating the values of the revolution and safeguarding the national memory. The Ambassador further noted that celebrating this occasion through diplomatic missions contributes to informing the world about Algeria’s rich history and strengthens the connection between the national community abroad and their homeland.

Ambassador Abdelhak also drew a connection between the values of the revolution and the guiding principles of Algeria’s foreign policy. She highlighted the approach led by the President of the Republic, which focuses on openness to the world, building partnerships based on mutual respect, supporting peace and stability, and enhancing Algeria’s diplomatic presence on the international stage.

The celebration featured a performance by Algerian artist Leila Boursali, who sang the national anthem and presented a selection of traditional songs reflecting the Algerian cultural heritage. Her contribution added a distinctive national flavor to the occasion, reflecting pride and reverence for the history of the glorious revolution.
