Two Killed, Several Wounded in Israeli Strikes on Southern Lebanon

Southern Lebanon – Two individuals have been confirmed dead following Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon on Saturday, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health. The ministry released a statement detailing the casualties resulting from the recent escalation of the conflict.

“An Israeli enemy raid this morning targeted a vehicle in Zawtar al-Sharqiya in the Nabatieh district, leading to the death of one citizen,” the statement read. Additionally, the ministry reported that “five citizens were wounded in the town of Shaqra in the Bint Jbeil district (adjacent to the border) due to a stun grenade thrown by an Israeli drone.”

The Lebanese National News Agency reported several other strikes targeting areas in the south and east of the country. According to the agency, Israeli warplanes launched a broad aerial assault, conducting an airstrike targeting the area between Al-Mahmoudiya, Al-Aishiya, and Al-Jarmaq on the eastern outskirts of the Meydaneh Kfarman plain.

The report further stated that the attacking aircraft fired two air-to-surface missiles at the targeted area. Approximately 15 minutes later, the outskirts of Jabal al-Rafee, towards Arabsalim, were hit by an enemy airstrike, followed by a similar raid targeting the Al-Mahmoudiya area. Hostile forces also carried out two raids on the outskirts of Shamshtar, west of Baalbek.

These latest incidents underscore the ongoing tensions in southern Lebanon, despite a ceasefire agreement brokered by the United States, which has been in effect since November 27, 2024. The Lebanese Ministry of Public Health states that over 330 people have been killed and 945 wounded since the ceasefire came into effect.

The continued Zionist aggression in southern Lebanon raises concerns about the fragility of the ceasefire and the potential for further escalation of the conflict.
