Scientists Predict: Algeria to Collide with and Subsume Spain

Algiers, DZWatch – A startling new scientific analysis suggests a dramatic geological shift is on the horizon, one that will fundamentally reshape the map of Europe and North Africa. Researchers are predicting a continental collision that will ultimately lead to the Iberian Peninsula, encompassing Spain and Portugal, being absorbed by the African continent, with Algeria playing a key role.

The study highlights the Earth’s constantly shifting tectonic plates. While imperceptible to us in our daily lives, these movements are relentless and will eventually result in the continents merging once again, echoing the ancient supercontinent of Pangea.

According to the projections, the initial phase of this monumental event will involve a collision between the coastlines of North Africa, specifically Algeria and Morocco, and the southern shores of Spain, known as Andalusia. This initial impact is predicted to occur within the next 12 million years, marking the beginning of the Iberian Peninsula’s disappearance.

Advanced computer models corroborate these findings, painting a vivid picture of the region’s geological future. The process will not be immediate, but rather a gradual merging that will accelerate over tens of millions of years. The Mediterranean Sea itself is also destined to vanish as Africa continues its northward journey.

Within approximately 30 million years, the African continent is expected to engulf the entire Mediterranean coastline, leaving behind only a few isolated lakes. At this stage, Africa and Eurasia (Europe and Asia) will have fully converged, forming a single, massive landmass. The geographical landscape of our planet will be unrecognizable.

The long-term implications of this geological transformation are profound. While the concept of nation-states as we know them today may not exist in the distant future, the study suggests that what is currently Spain will eventually become the northernmost part of the African continent. This event underscores the dynamic and ever-changing nature of our planet.
