Hainan, China – Algeria is advocating for a more structured and regular diplomatic collaboration between its parliament and the National People’s Congress of China. The call was made by Dalila Ben Djoudi, a member of the Algerian Council of the Nation, during a parliamentary symposium held in Hainan Province, southern China.
Speaking at the Africa-China Parliamentarians Forum, Ben Djoudi emphasized the need for cooperation that reflects the historically strong and strategic ties between Algeria and China, as well as the broader relationship between China and the African continent. She highlighted the potential for parliamentary diplomacy to strengthen these bonds.
“A more organized framework for parliamentary exchange would allow us to better leverage our shared interests and address common challenges,” Ben Djoudi stated. She further elaborated on the importance of legislative cooperation in accelerating the resolution of global issues impacting women.
The Algerian representative noted that exchanging ideas and experiences on matters of concern to both African and Chinese women could lead to significant advancements. She also described the meeting with parliamentarians from the National People’s Congress as a testament to the close relationship between the Algerian and Chinese people.
“Our partnership with China is comprehensive and strategic, built upon shared humanitarian principles,” Ben Djoudi added, emphasizing the depth of the bilateral relationship. She urged for greater cooperation and coordination between the Algerian and Chinese parliaments, both bilaterally and multilaterally, including with other African parliaments.
The Algerian delegation hopes this initiative will pave the way for increased dialogue and collaboration on key issues ranging from economic development to cultural exchange, further solidifying the already strong ties between Algeria and China.
