Sahrawi Republic’s Presence at Summit Rebuffs Moroccan Claims

Luanda – The participation of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) in the 7th African Union-European Union Summit in Luanda serves as a direct response to the propaganda propagated by the Moroccan occupation and its attempts to suppress the Sahrawi cause, according to a high-ranking Sahrawi official.

Hamdi Khalil Mayara, the Sahrawi Republic’s ambassador to Angola and Namibia, emphasized on Sunday that the SADR’s presence at the summit unequivocally demonstrates the international community’s recognition of the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination.

“Our participation here is a clear and unambiguous message,” stated Ambassador Mayara. “It directly refutes the narratives pushed by the Moroccan regime, which seeks to bury the Sahrawi issue and deny our people their fundamental rights.”

The summit, bringing together leaders from both continents, provides a crucial platform for the SADR to advocate for its position and counter what it perceives as misinformation campaigns aimed at undermining its legitimacy.

The presence of the SADR, a member state of the African Union, at such a high-profile event, underscores the complexities surrounding the Western Sahara dispute and highlights the ongoing efforts to find a peaceful and just resolution that respects the rights of the Sahrawi people.
