Justice Ministry Announces Training Courses for Judges

The Ministry of Justice has announced a series of training courses for judges, both domestically and internationally, commencing this Sunday. These initiatives aim to enhance their capabilities, update their knowledge, and keep them abreast of the latest legislative and regulatory developments.

As part of ongoing professional development for practicing judges at the Higher School of Magistracy, 48 prosecutors will participate in a training course on judicial communication. This course will take place from November 24th to 26th, 2025, at the Higher School of Magistracy in Kolea.

Additionally, 60 judges from the criminal chambers and divisions will attend a study day focusing on community service as a sentence. This event is scheduled for November 24th, 2025, also at the Higher School of Magistracy in Kolea. Both sessions are designed to refresh and update the judges’ knowledge, ensuring they are current with legislative and regulatory changes in their respective fields.

In collaboration with the European Program for Combating Cybercrime, one judge will participate in the Third African Forum on Cybercrime in Nairobi, Kenya, from November 25th to 27th, 2025.

Furthermore, in cooperation with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in Algeria, seven judges will attend a workshop on collecting, analyzing, and transmitting data related to trafficking in persons and smuggling of migrants. This workshop will be held in Algiers from November 25th to 27th, 2025, as part of a project to strengthen capabilities in North Africa to protect migrants by addressing migrant smuggling and human trafficking within irregular migration flows.

This workshop aims to intensify efforts in the North African region to combat human trafficking and migrant smuggling, improve the quality of data collection and communication by promoting harmonization and comparability based on standardized definitions. It will also focus on the technical tools used for effective data collection and analysis, relevant methodologies, and a better understanding of the trends, routes, and characteristics of migrants at risk of being trafficked or smuggled.

Finally, seven judges will participate in a workshop on good practices in using physical and electronic surveillance tools to gather evidence against criminal networks involved in human trafficking and migrant smuggling. This event will take place in Algiers from November 23rd to 27th, 2025, as part of the national project to strengthen the operational response of units responsible for combating human trafficking.
