National Committee Launched to Combat Drug Use in Schools

Algiers – A multi-sectoral committee tasked with preventing drug use in educational and training institutions has been officially inaugurated. The launch ceremony, held in Algiers on Monday, marks a significant step in the nation’s fight against substance abuse among young people.

The Minister of National Education, Mohamed Seghir Saadaoui, and the Minister of Health, Mohamed Seddik Ait Mesoudane, jointly presided over the establishment of the committee. This body will be responsible for developing a roadmap to implement the provisions of the executive decree concerning the detection of drug and psychotropic substance use within educational and training facilities.

The committee’s formation underscores the government’s commitment to safeguarding students and creating a safe and healthy learning environment. By bringing together experts and representatives from various sectors, including education, health, and law enforcement, the initiative aims to adopt a comprehensive and coordinated approach to drug prevention.
