EL OUED – In a significant operation targeting organized crime and smuggling, the National Gendarmerie in El Oued (4th Military Region) successfully apprehended eight individuals involved in drug trafficking. The operation, conducted earlier today, resulted in the seizure of a substantial quantity of illicit substances and assets.
According to sources within the Gendarmerie, the operation led to the confiscation of 26 passenger vehicles allegedly used in the transportation of contraband. More significantly, authorities seized 265,900 tablets of Pregabalin 300mg, a psychotropic substance. In addition to the drugs, a considerable sum of money, totaling 63 million Algerian dinars, was also seized, indicating the scale of the criminal network’s operations.
The operation underscores the ongoing efforts of the Algerian National Gendarmerie to combat drug trafficking and organized crime across the country. Authorities have emphasized their commitment to maintaining security and stability in the region through proactive measures and intelligence-led policing.
