Luanda, Angola – The Algerian national canoe-kayak team departed today for Luanda, Angola, to participate in the upcoming African Championships. The continental competition is scheduled to take place from November 28th to 30th.
The Algerian delegation comprises ten athletes across various age categories, including seniors, under-23, and juniors. They will be vying for top honors against some of the continent’s best canoe-kayak specialists.
The African Championships are expected to be highly competitive, with athletes battling for titles and aiming to secure qualification spots for international competitions in the 2026 calendar.
Prior to their departure, the national canoe-kayak coach, Abdelmalek Azzoun, had summoned the ten athletes to a preparatory training camp in Sidi Ksir, Jijel. The camp focused on enhancing the athletes’ physical and tactical readiness ahead of the crucial continental event.
This championship holds significant importance as it falls under the official calendar of both the International Canoe Federation and the African Canoe Federation. It serves as a vital platform for national teams to assess their performance levels against the elite competitors from across Africa.
