Algeria Braces for Severe Weather This Week

Algiers – Algeria is preparing for a significant weather disturbance expected to impact the northern regions of the country this week. According to weather models, the coastal and inland areas are likely to experience heavy rainfall, potentially exceeding 60 millimeters, starting Tuesday morning.

Snowfall is also anticipated in higher altitudes, ranging from 800 to 1400 meters. The western and central provinces are expected to be the first affected, with the precipitation gradually spreading eastward on Wednesday and Thursday.

Significant snowfall is predicted for the highlands of Tizi Ouzou, Bouira, and Setif. The eastern regions of Algeria, including Bejaia, Jijel, Skikda, Annaba, El Tarf, Setif, Constantine, and Bordj Bou Arreridj, are forecast to receive heavy rainfall.

A sharp drop in temperatures is expected, particularly during the night and early morning hours. Temperatures in the highlands and interior regions are predicted to fall below zero degrees Celsius. Coastal areas will likely experience temperatures ranging from 2 to 7 degrees Celsius.

Residents in the affected areas are advised to take necessary precautions and stay informed about the latest weather updates. Authorities are monitoring the situation and stand ready to respond to any emergencies that may arise.
