Tehran, Iran – The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared on Monday that retaliation for the assassination of Hezbollah military commander Haytham Tabatabai is a “reserved right,” signaling a potentially devastating response against Israel “at the appointed time.”
In a strongly worded statement, the IRGC asserted that the “axis of resistance” and Hezbollah in Lebanon retain the right to avenge the blood of the slain commander, emphasizing that Tabatabai’s killing in Beirut’s southern suburbs “will not go unpunished.”
The statement further stressed that the resistance axis “possesses the capability and the will to deter the Zionist enemy,” underscoring that military options remain “firmly on the table.”
The IRGC’s pronouncement arrives amid escalating regional tensions and open possibilities for renewed conflict between Israel and Hezbollah. International warnings are mounting, cautioning against a wider confrontation.
Haytham Tabatabai, a high-ranking figure within Hezbollah’s military wing, was killed on Sunday in an Israeli airstrike that targeted a densely populated residential area in southern Beirut.
The incident follows a week of intensified Israeli military strikes on targets within Lebanon. The Israeli military has claimed to have targeted rocket launch sites and weapons depots belonging to Hezbollah.
