Algerian FM Attaf Meets EBRD President in Luanda

Luanda, Angola – Ahmed Attaf, Algeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, held discussions with Odile Renaud-Basso, President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), on Tuesday. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 7th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) and the European Union (EU) in Luanda.

The discussions focused on potential areas of collaboration and investment between Algeria and the EBRD. Minister Attaf emphasized Algeria’s commitment to economic diversification and sustainable development, highlighting opportunities for the EBRD to contribute to key sectors such as renewable energy, infrastructure, and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The meeting provided a platform for both parties to explore avenues for strengthening the partnership and fostering economic growth in Algeria. Minister Attaf reiterated Algeria’s interest in attracting foreign investment and leveraging the EBRD’s expertise in supporting the country’s development agenda.

The summit, held in Luanda on November 24th and 25th, brought together leaders from across Africa and Europe to discuss key issues facing both continents, including trade, investment, security, and climate change. Minister Attaf’s participation underscores Algeria’s commitment to strengthening its ties with both the African Union and the European Union, and to playing a constructive role in promoting regional cooperation and development.
