The Minister of Environment and Quality of Life, Ms. Kouthar Krikou, conducted a working visit to the Wilaya of Ouled Djellal on Tuesday to monitor various sector projects and assess their progress on the ground.
The Minister began her visit by inspecting the technical landfill center in the municipality of Ouled Djellal. She received technical explanations about the facility’s operations and the improvements made. Afterwards, she proceeded to the green belt along National Road 46A to participate in a symbolic tree-planting operation. This initiative, carried out with the contribution of forestry services and local environmental associations, aims to support efforts in combating desertification and enhancing vegetation cover.
At the Mujahid Smati Bouzid National Institute for Specialized Vocational Training, the Minister reviewed training programs in the field of environment and green professions. She launched a new program to train trainees in the installation and formulation of solar panels under the supervision of the National Institute for Environmental Training. The Minister also inspected support programs for rural women in areas related to the green economy.
Furthermore, the Minister inaugurated the digital environmental caravan for children, an initiative designed to instill sound environmental behavior in children through digital media and interactive educational programs.
During another stop on the visit, the Minister inspected a production unit specializing in agricultural medicines and plant health products. Officials from the institution presented a technical card on its activity and prospects for development in order to promote local industrial investment, especially in the areas of production and packaging.
The visit concluded with a coordination meeting bringing together the Minister with representatives of elected councils and civil society actors. The meeting focused on explaining updates to the integrated waste management system and related guiding plans according to Law 25-02. The National Waste Agency presented a presentation on its tasks in accompanying local communities, while the National Institute for Environmental Training presented a presentation on Decree 24-61 related to the launch of the national waste management system program.
This visit is part of the Ministry of Environment and Quality of Life’s efforts to promote environmental governance, support local initiatives, and improve the quality of life across the Wilayas by monitoring projects and programs with a sustainable environmental dimension.
