Algerian Media Mourns Loss of Journalist Ahcene Khelas

Algiers – Algeria’s Minister of Communication, Zohir Bouamama, has expressed his profound sorrow following the death of veteran journalist Ahcene Khelas. The esteemed media figure passed away this Wednesday morning at the age of 58, according to a statement released by the Ministry.

In his message of condolence, Minister Bouamama stated that he received news of Khelas’s passing with “great sadness and sorrow,” while remembering his rich and dedicated career as one of Algeria’s most prominent media personalities.

The late Ahcene Khelas dedicated over three decades to journalism, holding various positions in several national newspapers before joining the “Al Watania” television channel, where he served as editor-in-chief.

The Ministry’s statement emphasized that Khelas left an indelible mark on the Algerian media landscape through his high professionalism and strong presence, making him an integral part of the profession’s collective memory and a pillar of the industry.

On this sad occasion, the Minister of Communication extended his deepest condolences to the family of the deceased, the staff of “Al Watania” channel, and the entire media community. He prayed to Almighty God to grant the deceased His vast mercy, to dwell him in His spacious paradise, and to grant his family patience and solace.
