Civil Protection Rescues 14 Stranded in Snow, Ice

Bejaia, Algeria – The Civil Protection services announced today the successful rescue of 14 individuals trapped by severe weather conditions in separate incidents in Bejaia and M’Sila provinces.

In Bejaia province, specifically in the Fournan area, Civil Protection teams successfully extracted seven people who were stranded in three vehicles due to heavy snowfall. The accumulation of snow had rendered the roads impassable, leaving the occupants unable to proceed.

Simultaneously, in M’Sila province, responders were deployed to the Ouled Mansour area of the El Maadid municipality. There, they rescued another seven individuals who were stuck in three cars and one truck. The primary challenge in this instance was the formation of black ice on the roadway, creating hazardous driving conditions.

These rescue operations highlight the crucial role of the Civil Protection services in ensuring public safety during periods of inclement weather. Authorities continue to urge citizens to exercise caution and remain informed about weather forecasts, particularly when traveling in mountainous or rural areas prone to snow and ice.

DZWatch will continue to provide updates on weather-related incidents and safety advisories as they become available.
