Algiers – The U.S. Embassy in Algiers has issued a strong warning to Algerian citizens regarding the Diversity Visa (DV-2027) lottery program. The Embassy clarified that registration for the DV-2027 program has not yet commenced, debunking widespread rumors and fraudulent online schemes.
In a statement released today, the Embassy emphasized that official registration dates and information will be exclusively announced through the U.S. Department of State and its official platforms. Algerians are urged to closely monitor the Embassy’s official social media channels and website to avoid falling victim to misinformation and deceptive websites that falsely claim to facilitate registration for a fee or seek sensitive personal information.
The Embassy also reminded prospective applicants of a new requirement for the DV-2027 program: a nominal fee of $1 USD to be paid upon registration. This fee is intended to offset a portion of the processing costs and deter duplicate or fraudulent entries, which strain the electronic system and create opportunities for scammers.
“Any entity claiming to expedite the registration process or guarantee selection in the lottery is fraudulent,” the Embassy warned. Citizens are strongly advised not to provide personal data or make any payments through unofficial channels.
The U.S. Embassy assured the public that the official registration period will open soon, with all pertinent details to be published on the Department of State’s website, travel.state.gov, as well as the U.S. Embassy in Algiers’ official pages.
