Severe Weather Alert Issued for Eastern Algeria

DZWatch has received reports from meteorological services indicating a period of unsettled weather across several eastern provinces. A level one (yellow) alert is in effect, warning residents to be prepared for a variety of conditions including rain, thunderstorms, snow, and a cold snap.

The advisory specifically mentions rainfall impacting the wilayas of Souk Ahras, Guelma, Constantine, and Oum El Bouaghi. Residents in these areas should be prepared for potential disruptions due to heavy precipitation.

Furthermore, significant thunderstorm activity is anticipated across a wider swathe of eastern Algeria. The affected wilayas include El Tarf, Annaba, Skikda, Jijel, Souk Ahras, Guelma, Constantine, Oum El Bouaghi, Mila, and Setif. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions during periods of intense lightning and thunder.

Snowfall is expected in the eastern highlands above 1500 meters. Travel in these areas may be hazardous due to reduced visibility and slippery road conditions. Motorists are urged to exercise extreme caution.

Finally, a cold wave is forecast for the wilayas of Setif and Djelfa. A noticeable drop in temperatures is expected, particularly during the overnight and early morning hours. Residents are advised to dress warmly and take measures to protect themselves from the cold.

DZWatch will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available. Stay tuned for the latest information.
