Heavy Rain and Snowfall Expected in Several Eastern Provinces

Algiers, November 28, 2025 – Several eastern provinces of Algeria are bracing for heavy rainfall and snowfall, according to a weather alert issued by the National Meteorological Office. The alert, released today, indicates that the inclement weather is expected to persist throughout Friday.

A level one (yellow) alert has been issued for snowfall in the provinces of Béjaïa, Jijel, Sétif, Mila, Batna, Oum El Bouaghi, and Khenchela. Residents in these areas are advised to take necessary precautions due to potential disruptions caused by the snow.

Furthermore, a level two alert warns of heavy rainfall across a wider range of eastern provinces. These include Mila, Annaba, Sétif, Skikda, Jijel, El Tarf, Souk Ahras, Béjaïa, Oum El Bouaghi, Guelma, Batna, Constantine, and Khenchela.

The meteorological office forecasts rainfall amounts ranging from 30 to 50 millimeters, with some areas potentially experiencing up to 60 millimeters. The alert remains in effect until Friday night.

Authorities are urging citizens in the affected regions to exercise caution and stay informed about the evolving weather conditions. Drivers are advised to reduce speed and maintain safe distances due to reduced visibility and slippery roads.
