Algeria and UK Forge Promising Agricultural Partnership

London, November 28, 2025 – A high-level forum held at the Algerian Embassy in London signals a new era of agricultural cooperation between Algeria and the United Kingdom. The Algeria-UK Sustainable Agriculture Partnership Forum brought together diplomats, experts, and business leaders from both nations to explore collaborative opportunities in agriculture and food industries. The central theme of the forum was “Connecting Algerian Agriculture with British Innovation.”

The forum served as a platform to showcase Algeria’s vast agricultural potential and the UK’s expertise in agricultural technology and innovation. This synergy paves the way for an unprecedented collaborative model within the sector.

In his opening address, the Algerian Ambassador to London, Noureddine Yazid, emphasized that the event reflects Algeria’s strategic focus on enhancing food security and diversifying its economy through the development of a modern agricultural sector. He highlighted the significant investment opportunities available in Algeria, particularly in the southern regions, which remain largely untapped. The Ambassador encouraged British companies to invest in agricultural processing, digital agriculture, and smart irrigation projects.

He further noted the embassy’s commitment to facilitating economic bridges between stakeholders in both countries, promoting technology transfer, and sharing expertise. Martin Roper, Chairman of the Algerian-British Business Council, lauded Algeria’s economic dynamism, recognizing it as a long-term strategic partner in the agricultural sector. He emphasized the readiness of British companies to provide cutting-edge solutions in precision agriculture, agricultural artificial intelligence, soil monitoring, and the development of supply chains and food processing.

Roper expressed his belief that combining British innovation with Algeria’s natural resources has the potential to create a new model for agricultural development in the region. The forum also featured direct bilateral meetings between business representatives from both countries, allowing for the exploration of investment opportunities in plant and animal production, food processing, clean energy solutions for agriculture, digitalization, and scientific research. Samples of Algerian agricultural products were showcased, highlighting the quality and diversity of local production.

This event marks a significant step forward in strengthening the Algerian-British partnership, initiating a new phase based on technology, innovation, and knowledge transfer. This opens up broader prospects for creating added value and establishing sustainable agricultural cooperation between the two nations.
