Global Airlines Face Disruptions After Airbus Warning

Airlines worldwide are experiencing significant disruptions to flight schedules following a warning issued by Airbus. The advisory concerns the need to update software linked to the control systems of approximately 6,000 A320 aircraft.

ANA Holdings, Japan’s largest carrier, has already announced the cancellation of 65 flights. Jetstar, the Australian subsidiary of Qantas, has also confirmed that it is affected by the technical recall.

In New Zealand, the national airline stated via its social media channels that its A320 fleet will undergo mandatory software updates before any further flights. This measure has resulted in a series of delays and cancellations.

Air France reportedly cancelled 35 flights on Friday. Avianca, the Colombian airline, has indicated that 70% of its fleet is impacted by the software issue affecting the European-manufactured aircraft.

In South Korea, the national carrier stated that it does not anticipate major disruptions, as only 17 aircraft in its fleet are subject to the recall.

These disruptions occur during a period of high global air travel demand. There are approximately 11,300 single-aisle A320 family aircraft in service worldwide, with 6,440 of the core model affected by the warning.

Affected airlines are currently working to complete the necessary updates to ensure flight safety and restore normal operations as quickly as possible. The priority remains passenger safety and minimizing further inconvenience.

DZWatch continues to monitor the situation and will provide updates as they become available.
