Ramadan 2026: Food Abundance Expected, Says Trade Association

Algiers, November 29, 2025 – The National Association of Traders and Artisans (ANCA) anticipates a significant abundance of widely consumed food products during the upcoming Ramadan period.

This forecast was announced by ANCA President, Taher Boulenouar, during a press conference held in Oran earlier today. Boulenouar emphasized the current ample supply of vegetables, fruits, and various types of meat, both red and white.

He believes this surplus will contribute to price stability, attributing it to increased agricultural production, the availability of subsidized goods, and the active participation of farmers and producers.

Boulenouar stated that ANCA supports the measures taken by the Ministry of Internal Trade to regulate the national market. “These measures will ensure the availability of diverse food products at regulated prices accessible to consumers, while also intensifying oversight of traders and combating speculation and hoarding,” he explained.

Furthermore, Boulenouar added, “New commercial spaces and areas will be established across all municipalities nationwide, complementing existing neighborhood markets to provide a variety of food products.” He stressed that the holy month will feature regulated prices, enabling traders to implement promotional sales and discounts.

The ANCA president revealed that the association will launch a series of nationwide awareness campaigns during Ramadan. These campaigns, according to Boulenouar, will focus on promoting rational consumption, combating waste, and reducing the intake of sugar and salt.

Finally, Boulenouar announced that starting at the end of December, ANCA will organize regional awareness campaigns to promote the widespread adoption of electronic payments via smartphones. These initiatives aim to modernize transactions and enhance convenience for both consumers and businesses.
