Algeria, Tunisia: Deep-Rooted Partnership Forged for Broader Horizons

Algiers – The upcoming 23rd session of the Joint Grand Commission between Tunisia and Algeria, scheduled for December 9-12, promises to significantly enhance bilateral cooperation, according to Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad, Nabil Ammar.

During a meeting with a delegation from the Algeria-Tunisia parliamentary friendship group, Ammar expressed Tunisia’s gratitude for Algeria’s unwavering support, particularly during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. He lauded the harmony and mutual respect between the leadership of both nations.

“This mutual support during challenging times reflects the depth of our bilateral relations,” Ammar stated, emphasizing the need to “enshrine this period in the memory of future generations.”

Ammar highlighted ongoing preparations to ensure the success of upcoming bilateral engagements, stressing the critical importance of continued cooperation and solidarity between Tunisia and Algeria. He emphasized the need to jointly address challenges related to food security, energy, water, and climate change to secure the stability and shared growth of both countries.

The Tunisian Minister also noted Algeria’s prominent role on the international stage, emphasizing the importance of strengthening the two countries’ presence in Africa. He further underscored their joint efforts to facilitate reconciliation among Libyan factions, support the Palestinian cause, and enhance cooperation in addressing Mediterranean challenges.

Mohamed El Hadi Tebessi, head of the Algerian parliamentary delegation, emphasized the importance of leveraging current circumstances to propel the partnership towards broader horizons. He praised the significant roles played by the foreign ministries of both countries and called for integrating parliamentary diplomacy with traditional diplomatic efforts by offering innovative ideas and proposals to address regional and international issues.

Members of the Algeria-Tunisia parliamentary friendship group concluded by stressing the necessity of creating an environment conducive to achieving further progress within the framework of sustainable bilateral cooperation. This partnership aims to create a future of growth and prosperity for both nations.
