Ataf and Togolese Counterpart Discuss Cooperation, Security

Algiers, Algeria – Minister of State and Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Ataf, received his Togolese counterpart, Robert Dussey, in Algiers yesterday, DZWatch has learned. The meeting took place on the eve of Algeria hosting the international conference on “Colonial Crimes in Africa” on November 30th, and the 12th session of the “Oran Process” on Peace and Security in Africa, scheduled for December 1st, according to a statement released by the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The discussions centered on strengthening bilateral cooperation between Algeria and Togo. Both ministers engaged in an exchange of perspectives concerning various issues related to the African Union, as well as peace and security across the continent.

A key focus of the talks was the reaffirmation of the importance of continued coordination between the two nations. This collaboration aims to address the multifaceted challenges currently confronting the African continent, with particular emphasis on the situation in the Sahel region.

The ministers emphasized the need for a unified approach to tackle these challenges effectively, promoting stability and sustainable development across the continent. The meeting underscores Algeria’s commitment to fostering strong diplomatic ties with African nations and working collaboratively to address pressing regional and continental issues.
