Ogier Secures Historic Ninth World Rally Championship Title

JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia – Sebastien Ogier of France has clinched his ninth World Rally Championship (WRC) title, solidifying his place among the motorsport greats. The Toyota driver secured the championship at the conclusion of Rally Saudi Arabia in Jeddah on Saturday, drawing him level with compatriot Sebastien Loeb’s record.

Ogier finished the rally in third place, behind Hyundai’s Thierry Neuville, who took the event victory. Despite missing three of the fourteen rounds in the 2025 season, Ogier’s consistent performance throughout the year proved decisive in securing the coveted title.

The Frenchman’s previous championship wins came between 2013 and 2018, followed by further triumphs in 2020 and 2021. His ninth title this season saw him overcome a strong challenge from Britain’s Elfyn Evans (Toyota), who entered the final round with a narrow three-point lead.

Ogier’s achievement marks a significant moment in WRC history, showcasing his enduring skill and determination on the world stage. His ability to adapt and perform consistently, even with a partial season, speaks volumes about his talent and the strength of the Toyota Gazoo Racing team.

The victory in Saudi Arabia capped off a thrilling season of rally racing, with Ogier’s experience ultimately proving to be the deciding factor in a closely contested championship battle. The 2025 WRC season will undoubtedly be remembered for Ogier’s record-equalling feat and the intense competition that defined the year.
