Algiers – The Algerian national football team is gearing up for its preparatory camp ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled to take place in Morocco from December 21st to January 18th. Special attention is being paid to the inclusion of its professional players, notably young international Ibrahim Mazza (20), a player for Bayer Leverkusen in Germany. Bayer Leverkusen has formally requested that Mazza be allowed to delay his arrival to the national team’s camp. The German club seeks to ensure Mazza’s participation in their Champions League match against Newcastle United, followed by a Bundesliga fixture against FC Koln.
The Algerian Football Federation, after consulting with national team coach Vladimir Petkovic, has granted the request. This decision reflects the good relationship between the federation and the German club, and aims to avoid any tension that could potentially affect the player’s future.
The importance of Mazza to Leverkusen is underscored by the confidence placed in him by coach Xabi Alonso.
