Algiers, October 31, 2025 – The Grand Mosque of Algiers (Djamaa El Djazair) has announced an extension of access to its eastern bridge, facilitating movement for worshippers and visitors attending the Algiers International Book Fair. The decision aims to ease transit for individuals traveling between the book fair and the mosque’s grounds.
According to a statement released by the Grand Mosque’s administration, the eastern bridge, which provides direct access to the mosque’s esplanade, will remain open from 10:00 AM until after the Isha (night) prayer. This extended access is specifically intended to accommodate the increased flow of people expected due to the concurrent hosting of the international book fair.
“This measure reflects our commitment to serving the community and ensuring convenient access to both cultural and religious events,” the statement emphasized.
The Algiers International Book Fair is a significant cultural event, attracting a large number of attendees from across Algeria and beyond. The Grand Mosque, with its iconic architecture and spiritual significance, is also a major draw for visitors. The extension of bridge access aims to seamlessly integrate these two important locations, providing a smoother experience for all.
Authorities at the Grand Mosque encourage attendees of both the book fair and the mosque to adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations during their visit. The extended access is expected to remain in effect for the duration of the Algiers International Book Fair.
