National team defender Youcef Atal has reassured Algerian fans about the readiness of the ‘Fennecs’ for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals. The tournament is scheduled to take place in Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
Atal’s statement comes after his absence from recent national team training camps due to recurring injuries and technical decisions. Speaking on the “My Predictions” program on Qatari Al Kass channels, Atal emphasized the strength of the upcoming tournament, given its location. “The tournament will be strong, especially since it is in Morocco,” he said. “Anyone who wants to deliver a strong performance must be physically and mentally prepared. In each edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, the team develops further.”
Regarding the atmosphere within the team under the leadership of coach Vladimir Petkovic, Atal highlighted a positive spirit and serious preparations aimed at presenting a better image and overcoming the disappointment of being eliminated in the first round in the previous two editions, following the historic triumph in 2019.
Atal conveyed a message of reassurance to the Algerian public, stating: “I promise them that we are ready. You will see Algeria perform at a high level. We are going there to achieve something, and in any tournament we play, we seek to deliver a strong performance… One, Two, Three… Viva l’Algérie!”
DZWatch will continue to provide updates as the team prepares for this important competition.
