DZWatch Exclusive: Several southern provinces of Algeria are bracing for heavy thunderstorms, with rainfall expected to reach up to 40mm in some areas. The national weather service issued a warning early Monday, advising residents to take precautions.
The province of Tamanrasset is expected to experience significant rainfall starting from 9:00 AM today, Monday, and continuing until midday Tuesday. Authorities anticipate localized rainfall accumulations reaching the 40mm mark.
Similar weather conditions are forecast for the provinces of Djanet and Illizi. Heavy thunderstorms are expected to begin around midday today, Monday, and persist until 9:00 PM on Tuesday. The expected rainfall amounts are also projected to reach up to 40mm.
The weather service also issued a separate alert for the provinces of Bechar and Beni Abbes, indicating that thunderstorms will continue until 6:00 PM today, Monday. Localized weather disturbances of varying intensity are anticipated in these regions.
DZWatch urges all citizens, especially those traveling and those residing in low-lying areas prone to flooding, to exercise extreme caution.
