Fouad Maala Awarded Volunteer Youth Shield 2025

Algiers – Fouad Maala, President of the “Green Algeria” Association, has been awarded the Volunteer Youth Shield for 2025 by the Ministry of Youth. This recognition underscores Maala’s significant and ongoing contributions to promoting a culture of volunteerism throughout the nation.

According to a statement released by the Ministry, the selection of Maala was a direct result of his pivotal role in the success of the nationwide tree-planting campaign held during October. The Ministry highlighted his dedication to environmental initiatives and his consistent presence in various environmental activities across Algeria throughout the year.

“Mr. Maala’s unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship and his ability to mobilize young people in support of crucial initiatives exemplifies the spirit of volunteerism we aim to foster,” stated a spokesperson for the Ministry of Youth.

This year’s edition of the award will feature a notable distinction. The Ministry announced its decision to award two shields instead of one. Furthermore, the public will have the opportunity to nominate a second individual to be recognized alongside Mr. Maala. The details of the nomination process for the second recipient will be released shortly by the Ministry.

The Volunteer Youth Shield is awarded annually to individuals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to volunteer work and have made a significant positive impact on their communities. Fouad Maala’s recognition serves as an inspiration to young Algerians to actively participate in building a better future for their country through volunteerism and civic engagement.
