Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, held discussions with the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, on Monday. The meeting focused on the evolving political and security landscape across the African continent.
Minister Attaf received Mr. Mahamat on the sidelines of the 12th High-Level Seminar on Peace and Security in Africa, known as the ‘Oran Process,’ currently taking place in Algiers.
According to a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the discussions provided an opportunity for both parties to review recent developments concerning peace and security throughout Africa. They also addressed the growing challenges presented by the complexities of the current international environment.
Specifically, Attaf and Mahamat exchanged views on developments in the Sahel region and the Western Sahara issue, while also considering the African Union’s role in addressing these challenges. The talks underscored the importance of collaborative efforts to promote stability and security on the continent.
The meeting highlights Algeria’s continued engagement in African peace and security initiatives. It also reflects the ongoing dialogue between Algeria and the African Union on critical issues facing the continent.
