Fellow Algerian cyclist Hamza Amari also earned a commendable position, finishing seventh in the same rankings. The awards celebrated the achievements of African cyclists throughout the year.
The title of best African cyclist of 2025 was awarded to Eritrean Biniam Girmay from Intermarché-Wanty. Girmay’s outstanding performance in the 2024 Tour de France, where he wore the green jersey after winning three stages, solidified his position at the top.
This marks Girmay’s fifth continental title, adding to his previous wins in 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2024. His continued dominance in African cycling is a testament to his skill and dedication.
The second and third positions in the rankings were also claimed by Eritrean cyclists: Henok Mulubrhan (XDS-Astana) and Natnael Tesfatsion (Movistar Team), respectively. This highlights Eritrea’s strong presence and success in the African cycling scene.
In the women’s category, Mauritian cyclist Kim Le Court secured the title of best African female cyclist of 2025, following her impressive performance in the recent edition of the Women’s Tour de France, where she won the fifth stage of the race.
