Ataf Meets AU Commissioner, Discusses Peace and Security

Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Ataf, received the African Union (AU) Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security, Bankole Adeoye, on Monday evening. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 12th High-Level Seminar on Peace and Security in Africa, known as the “Oran Process”, according to a statement from the Ministry.

Discussions focused on strengthening the African Union’s capacity to address current peace and security challenges. Minister Ataf reiterated Algeria’s unwavering support for all efforts aimed at developing and implementing African solutions to African problems.

The AU Commissioner expressed his deep appreciation for Algeria’s role in the United Nations Security Council, particularly in defending the causes and core priorities of the African continent. He also commended Algeria’s significant contribution to enhancing joint African action.

The meeting highlights Algeria’s continued commitment to promoting peace and security on the African continent and its active role in supporting the African Union’s efforts.

This engagement underscores Algeria’s dedication to finding African-led solutions to the challenges facing the region.
