Algeria participated in the “Resourcing Tomorrow” event held in London, United Kingdom, from December 1st to 4th, 2025. The event, themed “Securing Minerals and Resources… Enabling the Future,” brought together ministers, experts, and investors from leading mining nations.
Ms. Karima Bekir Tafer, Algeria’s Secretary of State to the Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, responsible for Mines, represented Algeria at the high-level event. She participated in roundtable discussions with ministers and government officials, focusing on key strategic themes.
These discussions centered on securing vital mineral resources, developing global supply chains, exploring sustainable investment opportunities in Algeria’s mining sector, and fostering international cooperation. The pivotal role of strategic minerals in supporting the global energy transition and the green economy was also highlighted.
Ms. Bekir Tafer presented a comprehensive overview of Algeria’s national roadmap for developing the mining sector. This roadmap prioritizes the exploitation of rare earth minerals, the promotion of local processing, and the enhancement of geological research. It also encompasses structured projects aimed at increasing added value and developing industries related to mineral resources.
In her remarks, the Secretary of State emphasized Algeria’s reliability as a partner, citing its diverse mineral resources, ongoing legal and regulatory reforms, and its capacity to contribute effectively to securing the global supply of strategic minerals crucial for modern technologies and a low-carbon economy.
Ms. Bekir Tafer reaffirmed Algeria’s commitment to deepening international cooperation in the mining sector and encouraging partnerships based on technology transfer, training, and responsible investment. This commitment is underpinned by the new mining law, which serves as a cornerstone for modern governance and improved investment climate in this vital sector.
Resourcing Tomorrow is a key event within London Mining Week, bringing together over 2000 participants from major companies and organizations in the mining industry. Algeria is seeking to leverage this platform to attract investment and partnerships to further develop its significant mining potential.
