Algeria Launches Tender for Soft Wheat Procurement

Algiers – Algeria has initiated an international tender for the purchase of soft wheat, according to European traders. The Algerian Inter-professional Cereals Office (OAIC) is seeking to secure a substantial quantity of the commodity from various origins.

The initial tender documentation specifies a requirement of 50,000 tonnes of soft wheat. However, market analysts suggest that the OAIC frequently surpasses this volume in the final agreement, indicating a potential for a larger purchase depending on the offers received.

The deadline for submitting price quotations is set for Wednesday. Submitted financial proposals will remain valid until Thursday, December 4th. This procurement effort underscores Algeria’s commitment to ensuring a stable supply of essential grains for its population.

The move comes as Algeria continues to strengthen its food security measures. The country relies heavily on imports to meet its domestic wheat consumption needs. This tender reflects ongoing efforts to proactively manage supply chains and secure favorable terms in the global market.

The outcome of this tender will be closely watched by international grain traders, as it provides valuable insights into Algeria’s import strategy and the prevailing market conditions. Sources indicate that competitive pricing and reliable supply chains will be key factors in determining the successful bidders.
