Algiers, Algeria – The African Union Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security, Bankole Adeoye, lauded the “significant success” of the High-Level Seminar on Peace and Security in Africa, held in Algiers. The commendation was made during Commissioner Adeoye’s visit to the Algerian capital on Tuesday.
The 12th edition of the seminar, known as the “Oran Process,” was praised for establishing itself as a crucial platform for collaborative African efforts within international bodies. Commissioner Adeoye emphasized the forum’s growing importance in shaping a unified African approach to addressing peace and security challenges across the continent.
“The Oran Process has become an indispensable arena for African nations to strategize and coordinate their actions on the global stage,” Commissioner Adeoye stated. “Its success is a testament to the commitment of African leaders to finding African solutions to African problems.”
The seminar brings together high-level representatives from AU member states, regional organizations, civil society, and international partners to discuss pressing issues related to conflict prevention, management, and resolution. It also serves as a platform for sharing best practices and developing innovative approaches to promoting peace and security.
The “Oran Process” is seen as a vital component of the African Peace and Security Architecture (APSA), which aims to enhance the AU’s capacity to respond effectively to conflicts and crises on the continent. The commissioner’s remarks underscore the AU’s continued commitment to strengthening the APSA and promoting a more peaceful and secure Africa.
