Algiers, December 3, 2025 – The National Meteorological Office has issued a severe weather alert for numerous provinces across Algeria, forecasting heavy rainfall, significant snowfall, and strong winds. The advisory warns of potential thunderstorms with rainfall exceeding 50mm, accompanied by hail in affected areas.
The initial alert covers the provinces of Tlemcen, Ain Temouchent, Oran, Mostaganem, Chlef, Sidi Bel Abbes, Saida, Mascara, Relizane, Tiaret, and Tissemsilt. Residents in these areas are urged to take precautions against flash flooding and potential damage from hail.
A second weather advisory indicates similar conditions, including thunderstorms and heavy rainfall with hail, for Ain Defla, Tipaza, Algiers, Blida, Medea, Boumerdes, Bouira, Tizi Ouzou, Bejaia, Setif, Jijel, Skikda, Annaba, and El Tarf. This weather system is expected to persist from midday today, Wednesday, until 6:00 AM tomorrow, Thursday.
Furthermore, provinces including Bordj Bou Arreridj, Mila, Constantine, Guelma, Souk Ahras, Oum El Bouaghi, Batna, Khenchela, Tebessa, Biskra, Ouled Djellal, El M’Ghair, El Oued, Touggourt, Ouargla, Djelfa, Laghouat, Ghardaia, El Menia, and El Bayadh are also under alert for locally significant thunderstorms, beginning midday today and continuing until dawn tomorrow.
Snowfall is expected to be particularly heavy in Tlemcen, Sidi Bel Abbes, Saida, Tiaret, and El Bayadh, starting midday today and lasting until 9:00 PM. Motorists are advised to exercise extreme caution and avoid unnecessary travel in these regions.
