Algiers – President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko have charted a strategic roadmap for enhanced cooperation between Algeria and Belarus, signaling a new era in bilateral relations. The announcement followed a high-level meeting in Algiers on Wednesday, where both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening ties across various sectors.
President Tebboune hailed the visit as a culmination of three decades of diplomatic partnership, noting the successful inaugural session of the Joint Governmental Committee held recently in Minsk. He confirmed that the next session would soon take place in Algeria.
During a joint press conference, President Tebboune revealed a shared vision for an ambitious roadmap spanning from 2026 to 2027, encompassing vital sectors such as agriculture, human and veterinary health, mechanical and pharmaceutical industries, energy, and scientific research. He emphasized the agreement to unlock new joint investments and strategic partnerships in these key areas.
President Tebboune expressed satisfaction with the signed agreements, describing them as solid foundations for future partnerships. He also lauded the successful business forum that brought together delegations from both countries, anticipating a boost in trade exchange.
The discussions also addressed pressing regional and international issues. President Tebboune reiterated Algeria’s unwavering stance on the Palestinian cause, emphasizing that stability in the Middle East hinges on a just resolution based on UN resolutions, guaranteeing the Palestinians their full rights, including the establishment of a sovereign state with Jerusalem as its capital.
Regarding the Libyan crisis, President Tebboune stressed the importance of adhering to a peaceful solution based on dialogue and understanding among all parties involved. Algeria remains committed to supporting a Libyan-led and Libyan-owned political process.
