State Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Salma Bekhta Mansouri, received the Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of the Republic of South Africa, Alvin Botes, at the Ministry headquarters on Wednesday. Mr. Botes is currently visiting Algeria to participate in the 12th edition of the “Oran Process” seminar on peace and security in Africa.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad and African Affairs, the meeting provided an opportunity to review the excellent level of bilateral cooperation and the progress made in implementing the outcomes of the last session of the High Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation. This session was held in Algeria in December 2024, co-chaired by the presidents of both countries, Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Cyril Ramaphosa.
During the meeting, both parties emphasized the need to continue activating cooperation mechanisms and deepening coordination to accelerate the pace of economic and trade partnership. This is aimed at meeting the aspirations of both leaderships and leveraging the significant potential available.
The two sides also exchanged views on prominent African issues of common interest. They praised the active role played by Algeria and South Africa in defending just causes, and reaffirmed their commitment to continuing joint efforts at the regional and international levels. This commitment underscores the strong relationship and shared vision between the two nations in addressing key challenges and opportunities facing the African continent.
