Minister Highlights Media’s Role in Promoting Algerian Tourism

Timimoun, Algeria – Minister of Communication, Zouheir Bouamama, emphasized the crucial role of the media in showcasing Algeria’s national tourism assets and promoting them both continentally and internationally. The Minister made these remarks on Thursday in Timimoun, during the opening of the 7th International Festival of Saharan Tourism.

Bouamama stated that media outlets are responsible for highlighting the unique natural characteristics and tourist attractions that each region of the country possesses, particularly the Great South. He stressed the importance of promoting these assets to a global audience.

The Minister cited the increasing interest from international media outlets in the tourism potential of southern Algeria. He specifically mentioned the need to present these regions effectively through various media channels to attract tourists.

“There are tourist areas in the south of the country that must be presented in the best possible way through the media to attract tourists,” Bouamama stated.

He referenced figures provided by the Ministry of Tourism and Traditional Industries regarding the influx of foreign tourists into Algeria, especially the South, noting that the numbers are comparable to previous years. Minister Bouamama reiterated President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s reliance on the tourism sector to diversify the national economy and ensure it remains a key pillar of sustainable development. He concluded by reaffirming the vital role of the media in promoting Algerian tourism.
