Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – The Saudi-Qatari Coordination Council’s Executive Committee convened in Riyadh on Thursday to explore avenues for enhancing collaboration between the two nations.
The meeting, the eighth session of the joint committee, was co-chaired by Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan, according to statements from both countries’ foreign ministries.
The Qatari statement indicated that the meeting involved a review of the outcomes from the Council’s sub-committees and working groups over the past period. Specific details regarding these outcomes were not disclosed.
The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the meeting, held at its headquarters in Riyadh, addressed the strong fraternal relations between Saudi Arabia and Qatar, and ways to develop them bilaterally and multilaterally within the framework of the Saudi-Qatari Coordination Council. The discussions also focused on intensifying joint cooperation through a number of initiatives aimed at elevating relations to broader horizons.
Both sides lauded the existing cooperation and coordination between the Council’s committees and working groups, emphasizing the importance of maintaining this momentum to achieve the qualitative common interests of both countries and their people. The meeting underscores the commitment of both nations to strengthen their strategic partnership.
The Saudi-Qatari Coordination Council was established in July 2008 with the aim of bolstering bilateral cooperation in political, economic, security, cultural, and educational fields. An amended protocol to the Council’s establishment was signed in August 2021, further solidifying the commitment to enhanced collaboration.
