Algeria Hosts Major African Startup Conference

Algiers will host the fourth edition of the African Startup Conference, the continent’s largest gathering dedicated to innovation, starting Saturday. The event is expected to draw over 25,000 participants.

Under the theme “Supporting the Rise of African Champions,” the conference, held from December 6th to 8th at the Abdelatif Rahal International Conference Center, is under the high patronage of the Algerian President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune. It has established itself as a key continental platform for innovation and entrepreneurship, fostering a competitive and integrated technological ecosystem that strengthens African sovereignty.

The event is organized by the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, Startups, and Micro-enterprises, along with the public accelerator “Algeria Venture.” It will feature participation from over 35 ministerial delegations, more than 200 exhibitors from Africa and beyond, and over 300 international experts.

The conference will also welcome over 150 investors, a significant number of project leaders, incubators, and entrepreneurs from the African diaspora, as well as officials, representatives of international organizations, and international stakeholders. Rwanda will be the guest of honor at this edition, recognizing its significant progress in innovation and Algeria’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with leading African countries in the field of entrepreneurship.

President Tebboune recently emphasized the importance of this event during a Council of Ministers meeting, describing it as “an essential artery connecting African countries with the world.” Regarding the preparations and prospects for the conference, President Tebboune stated that “the orientation towards a startup economy, based on an African-African partnership, is the most successful model for building a strong and diversified economy, with science as its foundation and Algeria as its incubator.”

In addition to the ministerial summit, which will include over 35 official delegations, the conference will highlight the successes of “African champions” who have built companies with significant turnover and contribute to the development of the real economy in African countries. Throughout the three-day conference, several parallel activities and specialized sessions will be organized on research, innovation, content creation, financial technology, and artificial intelligence. An exhibition showcasing products and services will also be held. The event aims to further solidify Algeria’s position as a hub for innovation and entrepreneurship within the African continent.
