Oum El Bouaghi, Algeria – Algeria has marked a significant step in its economic diversification strategy with the export of its first shipment of pharmaceutical and parapharmaceutical products to both Oman and China. The shipment, originating from the eastern province of Oum El Bouaghi, underscores Algeria’s ambition to enhance its presence in the global market and strengthen regional pharmaceutical security.
The initiative saw the IMGSA pharmaceutical group dispatch a consignment of pharmaceutical and parapharmaceutical goods to Oman. This export is accompanied by two agreements aimed at fostering economic collaboration between Algeria and Oman. The Omani Ambassador to Algeria, Saif Rashid Al-Badaei, hailed the shipment as a positive development, expressing his satisfaction at witnessing the fruition of collaborative efforts and highlighting the numerous investment opportunities available in Algeria.
In a parallel move, IMGSA is also exporting its initial shipment of natural rubber to China, demonstrating the growing competitiveness and capacity of the Algerian pharmaceutical industry to meet international demand. A representative from the Chinese side acknowledged the importance of this first shipment from Algeria to China, expressing optimism for expanded cooperation between the two nations in the future.
According to the CEO of IMGSA, the shipment to Oman consists of two containers, while the initial shipment to China is one container, with a second one scheduled to follow within ten days, along with another shipment destined for Yemen. The Chinese partner has also expressed interest in importing liquid calcium carbonate from Algeria, with a potential annual volume of 500 tons.
These exports represent a crucial step in Algeria’s efforts to bolster its pharmaceutical industry and diversify its export portfolio, paving the way for increased economic cooperation and trade relations with key international partners.
