President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has affirmed that the African Conference on Startups, which commenced today in Algiers, embodies Algeria’s steadfast commitment to bolstering continental cooperation based on principles of sustainability and effectiveness. He further stated that the event has evolved into a continental incubator for emerging enterprises.
In a message delivered to participants at the fourth edition of the conference (December 6-8) at the Abdellatif Rahal International Conference Centre, and read by Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui during the opening session, President Tebboune emphasized the significance of this continental gathering. He described it as the largest forum bringing together young innovators in Africa, providing a recurring opportunity for exchanging expertise and supporting entrepreneurship across the continent.
President Tebboune highlighted that the theme of this edition, ‘Supporting the Emergence of African Champions,’ sends a clear message underscoring the capabilities of African youth in transforming challenges into opportunities and aspirations into a knowledge and innovation-based economic reality.
He added that the conference embodies the spirit of an ambitious Africa, aiming to strengthen the technological sovereignty of the continent. The President emphasized that the record participation in this edition reflects its growing importance at both the continental and international levels, with over 25,000 participants, more than 40 ministerial delegations, 200 investors, and 150 innovators in attendance.
The conference is witnessing the presence of several government members, the Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Ambassador Salma Hadded, along with representatives of various national and international institutions and bodies, members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Algeria, as well as ministers and officials from the innovation and startup sectors in several African countries. This event signals a renewed focus on African solutions for African challenges.
