Algeria Dominates Bahrain in Arab Cup Thriller

The Algerian national team delivered a commanding performance on Saturday, securing a resounding 5-1 victory over Bahrain in their second match of the Arab Cup group stage, held in Qatar. The win propels Algeria to the top of Group D with four points, marking their first victory in the tournament after an initial goalless draw against Sudan.

For Bahrain, the defeat signals an early exit from the competition, as they remain at the bottom of the group with no points. The group also includes Iraq, currently in second place with three points, and Sudan, in third with one point, who are scheduled to face each other later today.

Algeria’s goalscoring spree began with Redouane Berkane finding the net in the 24th minute. However, Bahrain quickly responded, with Mahdi Abduljabbar equalizing just three minutes later. Undeterred, Algeria regained the lead through Adel Boulbina in the 30th minute. Yassine Benzia then extended the advantage with a penalty in the seventh minute of added time in the first half, making it 3-1. Shortly after the restart, Berkane scored his second goal of the match in the 48th minute, pushing Algeria further ahead.

Boulbina completed Algeria’s five-goal haul in the 80th minute, sealing a comprehensive victory and a significant morale boost after their disappointing draw in the opening match. Algeria’s dominant display showcases their ambition in the tournament. The team looks forward to the next game with optimism.
