Russian Corvette *BOIKII* Makes Port Call in Algiers

Algiers, December 7, 2025 – The Russian Navy corvette BOIKII, part of the Baltic Fleet, arrived in the port of Algiers today for a three-day stop. This visit is part of the ongoing Algerian-Russian military cooperation program.

According to a statement from the Ministry of National Defense, the commanding officer of the BOIKII and his accompanying delegation paid a courtesy visit to the commander of the Central Maritime Front at the naval base in Algiers, within the First Military Region. Discussions focused on ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation and exchange expertise between the Algerian and Russian navies.

As part of this cooperation, reciprocal visits will be organized between personnel from the Algerian Naval Forces and the crew of the Russian corvette. These visits will facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experience in the maritime field. Cultural and tourist activities are also planned for the Russian crew members.

A joint maritime exercise of the PASSEX type will be conducted at sea, involving the Algerian Navy’s offshore patrol vessel *El Moutassadi* and the Russian corvette BOIKII. The exercise aims to enhance joint operations between the naval units of both countries and exchange experiences in areas such as maneuvering, operational coordination, maritime communications, and maritime safety operations.
