Algiers, DZWatch – Embracing a comprehensive digital system will establish innovative mechanisms to strengthen transparency and integrity in public administration. This statement was made by Salima Mesrati, Head of the High Authority for Transparency, Prevention, and the Fight Against Corruption.
Speaking on ‘Forum Aloula,’ ahead of International Anti-Corruption Day, Mesrati emphasized that the integration of various ministerial departments, bodies, and institutions into the digital sphere will streamline the Authority’s work. It will also foster synergy between sectors, ultimately promoting transparency and integrity in managing public affairs.
“Eradicating corruption requires a concerted effort from all sectors and institutions,” Mesrati stated, highlighting the importance of seamless information exchange through a digital system. She also referenced several platforms designed to enable citizens to report instances of financial and administrative corruption, including the ‘Balaghna’ platform launched in 2023 and the ‘Narakoum’ platform, which allows civil society organizations to report suspected corruption. Notably, over 1540 reports were filed in 2025 alone.
Furthermore, Mesrati unveiled new mobile applications aimed at bringing citizens closer to the Authority. She also mentioned an online platform showcasing the National Strategy for Transparency, Prevention, and the Fight Against Corruption. This platform allows institutions and sectors to gain a deeper understanding of the strategy’s content and objectives.
Mesrati elaborated on the operational methods of the High Authority, emphasizing its role as one component of the state’s anti-corruption framework. She cited other entities, such as the General Inspectorate attached to the Presidency, the National Office for the Suppression of Corruption, oversight bodies like the Court of Accounts and financial inspectorates, and the judicial authority, as integral parts of this framework. “The High Authority prioritizes prevention through awareness campaigns, in collaboration with civil society and youth,” she concluded, noting numerous awareness sessions conducted at universities and with the Supreme Council for Youth.
