DZWatch Exclusive: Tickets for the highly anticipated Algeria and Jordan matches against Argentina in the 2026 World Cup have seen a dramatic surge in prices on the secondary market following the announcement of the group stage schedule. This spike reflects the intense global interest in seeing these teams compete, particularly against a powerhouse like Argentina.
Prior to the draw, the cheapest tickets for the June 27th match at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, were already fetching around $400, equivalent to approximately 100,000 Algerian dinars on the black market. However, immediately after the schedule was revealed, prices skyrocketed to over $2,000, briefly nearing $3,000 before settling at approximately $2,200 – roughly 500,000 Algerian dinars. This makes it the fourth most expensive ticket in the tournament, after the final and semi-final matches.
This price surge is partially attributed to the presence of global football icons, with many speculating that Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi will be participating in what may be their final World Cup. However, the star power isn’t the sole driver. Resale prices have increased for approximately 78 out of the 91 matches, reflecting a broader trend of high demand.
Significant price increases in US Dollars and Algerian Dinars are as follows:
Argentina’s group stage matches have seen some of the largest increases:
- Argentina vs. Algeria – Kansas City: $968 (Over 200,000 Algerian Dinars), a 307% increase.
- Argentina vs. Austria – Arlington: $1,327 (300,000 Algerian Dinars), a 252% increase.
- Jordan vs. Argentina – Arlington: $1,158 (250,000 Algerian Dinars), a 227% increase.
In comparison, some of the highest increases for other matches in the same round include:
- Colombia vs. Portugal – Miami: $2,189 (450,000 Algerian Dinars), a 514% increase.
- Brazil vs. Scotland – Miami: $1,474 (300,000 Algerian Dinars), a 338% increase.
This trend highlights the thriving ticket resale market, where star players and major tournaments are significant draws. The substantial demand from both American and international fans is pushing prices to unprecedented levels months before the tournament’s kickoff.
